Outline

Inhabiting the snowy fields of Antarctica, she resembles a tall, chubby penguin when seen from afar. But, when you get up close, you can see that she is actually a cute girl in a black-white suit.

Her highly developed eyes glow keenly as she watches for poachers who threaten the ecology of Antarctica, and the high-capacity compressed nitrogen jets equipped under her fake wings can stop glaciers from rapidly collapsing.

Of course, this deadly weapon is not meant to be used against poachers. With her physique, she wouldn't even have to use weapons to deal with average humans. The product name 'Empress', labelled after the emperor penguin, signifies her competence and benevolence.

She rescues antarctic animals in peril, and their cubs often find themselves in the cells on her back.

She is the guardian of Antarctica.

Origin Story

Doll House, a subsidiary of PECS Consortium that mostly focused on making products for NGOs, began to design Bioroids that could stop the ever-growing rampancy of poachers in each climate.

Empress, a Bioroid developed to adapt to the climate of Antarctica, was one of them. Her superior stamina helped her play an active role in the conservation of protected species in various environments not limited to Antarctica, such as the Arctic and the Arctic Ocean, Siberia, and the Andean Mountains. Unlike the other Bioroids who were lost in political conflicts and whatnot, Empress could be safe from such sordid strife since she was dispatched to remote areas.

However, even Empress was not free from the Alliance Wars. PECS Consortium took notice of her remarkable stamina, the ability to adapt to harsh conditions of the wilds, and the resistance to cold temperatures, and modified her design specifics to use her for battle.

Her harpoon gun gained additional penetrative power and was remodeled into an anti-armor weapon, and the anesthetic gas designed to capture animals safely was replaced with a deadly hydrofluoric acid gas.

Empress was mostly deployed to polar regions carrying these weapons, and she could overpower other, less efficient combatants.

After all Empress units were annihilated in the Apocalypse War, Labiata was the first one to pay attention to the usefulness of Empress.

Labiata felt the need to restore the natural environment and conserve endangered species of life in case humans were found again.

Besides, if a full-on war was not in the Bioroids' favor, she also had to consider fortifying rugged territories and fending off Ironworms in that position. She allocated a portion of what few resources she had to restore Empress, and dispatched them to various areas.

The Empress are still active in the wilds, driving Ironworms out of the snow-covered mountains and buying time.

Personality and Values

Values

Empress is an intellectual Bioroid with a warm heart. She deeply cherishes the value of life, and tends to see all life as equal. She doesn't hesitate to go through troubles if she can conserve life.

Empress is dispatched to remote areas all by herself; although she is kind, she doesn't feel lonely. She can communicate with animals using ultrasonic waves, and can resonate with emotions most animals feel. Empress doesn't really distinguish Bioroids from other animals and simply thinks of them all as living things, so she doesn't necessarily feel more isolated even if she's surrounded by animals instead of Bioroids.

However, Empress is often considered "too sentimental" because of this personality. In spite of her intelligence, she was deemed inadequate for academic research thanks to her personality.

Relationships

Empress is kind to anyone. However, most Bioroids have trouble understanding her technical vocabulary, and they cannot fully empathize with her passion toward animals, so they feel that Empress is an eccentric Bioroid. This feeling does not develop into hostility, though.

Yet, Empress has trouble dealing with robots, as she has confusion about whether to treat them as living things or another kind of intelligent beings entirely.

She is deeply interested in Bioroids who underwent heavy genetic modifications to gain animal-like features or animal-type Bioroids and tries her best to become intimate with them. For instance, Bori (Constantia's dog) and CS Perrault feel that Empress is bothering them too much.

Behavior / Language

A tender savant, her vocabulary can be hard to understand at times, but she is always amicable and kind. Notably, she actively approaches other Bioroids and tries to befriend them like she would to animals, which may make the Bioroids feel pressured. But most Bioroids still respect her, so she doesn't realize at all that her actions may be excessive.

When an urgent situation has been sorted out, she immediately investigates the nearby environment to see if any life was hurt, and opens up the cell on her back to give the animals she's been keeping safe a breath of fresh air.

Abilities

Ice Age: The highly compressed nitrogen gas helps Empress preserve the environment around her. She can easily replenish the nitrogen gas from the atmosphere.

Penguin Surprise!: A device that can be placed near communities of animals susceptible to climate change, preventing the abnormal temperature change in Antarctica from disturbing the ecosystem. It's an efficient measure to seal off the enemy's combat powers without directly harming them; it was also used to deter poachers from using vehicles or weaponry.

It can also explode in case of emergency, making it excellent for catching the enemy by surprise.

Polar Preparations: Empress is highly resistance to low temperatures, and continuously sprays a curtain of air around her to block the cold. Empress is so cold-resistant that she can cover herself in liquid nitrogen while naked and be fine, and is almost never slowed by low temperatures. The air curtain is large enough to cover an area around her.

Penguin Camouflage: Empress can disguise herself as an animal using a hologram-generating device and an electromagnetic field jammer. While Empress is standing by, she disguises as an animal and watches over the ecosystem. This ability can be surprisingly helpful in battle; since Ironworms recognize foes using the visible spectrum and electromagnetic waves, they often briefly mistake Empress for a wild animal. The next attack from an unnoticed Empress can leave a critical blow on enemies.

Introduction

Nice to meet you! I'm every penguins' big sis, Empress. I'm an observer who protects all the animals in Antarctica. I was born to protect the endangered species in the ever-melting Antarctic, and as a bonus, I also protected scientists from natural disaster.

I was given natural cold resistance and durability because I had to move around in arctic cold. Thanks to being in Antarctica, I managed to get away from humans' brutal war. One thing that's both good and bad at the same time was that because those Iron Parasites never came to Antarctica, I couldn't fight them. I think that there's a silver lining to their invasion, though, because eradication of humans slowed the progress of global warming. Ah, but of course it was bad that humans were eradicated.

It was Labiata who called us over from Antarctica. We knew nothing outside of Antarctica, and after listening to Labiata's story about the rest of the world, we joined up on the battle against Iron Parasites. And now, we are doing our best battling those that perished our masters.
