Since the update on 26/9/2023, Sanctum of Alteration has undergone an overhaul, please refer to Sanctum of Alteration 2.0 for newer info, this page is kept for achieve purpose.

Introduction

Sanctum of Alteration is one of Last Origin's content where the players can challenge a series of missions. It is the only place where Alternium and Refined Alternium (R.Alternium) can be collected for Exchange. Sanctum of Alteration can be accessed through the World button in the main menu. Later parts of Sanctum of Alteration can be considered late-game content so the players should be familiar with the game's mechanics and have the contingency required to beat it without any assistance.

Details

Sanctum of Alteration was originally an on-going campaign made for veteran players. Unlike Endless War, it is always accessible and does not reset. Periodically, Sanctum of Alteration will be updated with new zones, new challenges, and new equipment/tech to exchange the refined Alternium with.

The content for this mode is divided into "Zones" or "Areas". Each zone has 60 "floors" or "layers". Players will begin at floor 1 and make their way down to floor 60. After the player has beaten the 60 floors, they can move on to the next zone. Each floor has a fixed number of waves with semi-random or fixed enemy formation. Enemy formations are presetted but as to which formation the players are challenged in each run is random. It is possible for the players to be challenged with the same enemy formation multiple times in a single run. In each wave, there may be fixed formation(s) at certain waves, usually bosses are in these waves.

The players may bring up to 3 squads in a single run. Squads can be changed between waves or after a squad has been defeated. The players may only change their squads in between waves 4 times. Like Endless War, units cannot be fixed between waves. To compensate, units that get heavily damaged or defeated during the run will be fixed after the run ends. Additionally, certain units with form change like Alexandra will retain their form even after their squad has been switched out. Units will not gain any EXP upon finishing a run.

While it is encouraged for players to bring different squads to counter the varied enemy formations, it is completely possible to clear later floors with a single squad. However, unlike Endless War, later floors on later zones used to have wildly contrasting tech meant to promote and snub certain tactics. So it is recommended for players to bring multiple squads for an easier time.

There are no achievements or drops that can be gained beyond the first completion of a floor in Sanctum. There's no point in replaying a floor other than for the purpose of risk-free experimentations. Therefore players are only required to clear the floors once and move on. Upon the completion of a floor, the players may be rewarded with some basic resources, Alternium/Refined Alternium, Alternium/Refined Alternium generation, and Max Alternium/Refined Alternium generation capacity. The rewards differ between floors and zones, the further the player goes, the better the rewards.

There are caps for maximum amount of Alternium/Refined Alternium that player can keep in their inventory, the caps can't be increased in any way. The cap for Alternium is 99,999, while the cap for Refined Alternium is 9,999.

Zone Description

Zone 1: Securing the Mines and Seizing the Harvested Materials.

Zone 1.png

Challenges: None.

Classic Endless War mode, nothing new besides it being 60 floors instead of 30 floors. If the player has beaten Endless War before, they should have no problem with this zone. There is no R.Alternium clear reward and the player will only receive R.Alternium generation upon clearing the 60th floor.

Zone 2: Mine Navigation and Threat Elimination Operation.

Zone 2.png

Challenges: Units may only be used to complete a floor once per day (As of 21.03.2023, this restriction has been lifted). Over-levelled enemies at F-33 and onwards. High-tech enemies will start appearing regularly. One new enemy designed to snub and punish certain tactics.

This zone is significantly harder than Endless War. High-tech enemies like Drone AK and scarab H will appear regularly. One new enemy, Cyclops type-X will start appearing on later floors. Enemy compositions will be geared more towards defeating the players rather than helping them win. Enemies will start over-levelling beyond Lv. 100, up to Lv. 150 and therefore they will have higher scalable stats. All these factors combined will frustrate certain strategies or compositions that the players use.

Units can only be used once per day. That means the players will have to diversify their compositions and use different units if they want to go through the content quickly. If not, the players will be gated with whatever composition they are always stuck with. Alternatively, the players may simply have multiple copies of the same units and use those same units instead.

As of 21.03.2022, units can be used repeatedly in a single day. No need to diversify compositions unless forced by enemy composition.

Zone 3: Locating and securing Secret Saman Research Facility.

Zone 3.png

Challenges: Units may only be used to complete a floor once per day (As of 21.03.2023, this restriction has been lifted). Over-levelled enemies at F-21 and onwards. High-tech enemies are commonplace. Several new enemies and bosses designed to punish certain tactics and challenge players. Some old enemies return with better tech and/or better base stat. AGS units occupy certain floors along with their own tech.

Leverages: The player can bring up to 4 squads instead of 3. This zone has its difficulty nerfed several times in order to be easier for players.

This zone is significantly harder than zone 2. High-tech enemies are everywhere and their compositions are designed to destroy the players. Enemies will start over-levelling beyond Lv. 100 and therefore they will have higher scalable stats, up to Lv. 180. All these factors combined will frustrate certain strategies or compositions that the players use. The players will also start seeing new enemies with incredible tech. Certain waves in certain floors involves can get so difficult, it requires very specific compositions in order to beat them. The players are encouraged to use multiple squads or expect resets.

As of 13.09.2022, Zone 3 has been nerfed to the ground. Enemy units will only level up to Lv. 120. Spartan units (Dryer/Fryer/Freezer) have been nerfed for the 5th time. A lot of normal effects has been turned into buff/debuffs.

Zone 4: Seizure of bridge-heads and Ironworm Mines in Northern Europe

Zone 4.png

Challenges: Units may only be used to complete a floor once per day (Resets at 9 AM KST). High-tech enemies are commonplace. Sanctum exclusive enemies designed to punish certain strategy and tech. Certain unit types are restricted for each floor. Players may only field 2 squads at the same time.

Leverages: Almost all of the high tech enemies limited to Sanctum were nerfed during the launch of this area. Certain units are granted buffs in each floor; those units are preferred to be used in each floor. Enemies' levels are locked at 120.

This zone is significantly easier than zone 3. This zone was intended to be less difficult than previous zones. High-tech enemies are everywhere and their compositions can be challenging but, this is alleviated by the fact that they have been massively nerfed so they could be better managed with a limited choice of units. Enemies are locked at Lv. 120 in all levels and will not scale any further. Certain floors can be difficult, particularly the ones where supporter units are not available to be chosen. However, the advantageous unit mechanics will often offset the restriction.

Units can only be used once per day. But since certain units have advantages in certain floors and these units always changes, players are encouraged to just use the advantageous units to get through the content quickly. Assuming the advantageous units are available.

Zone 5: Seizure of Ironworm Mines and Power Search

Challenges: Units may only be used to complete a floor once per day (Resets at 9 AM KST). Sanctum exclusive enemies designed to punish certain strategy and tech. Certain unit types are restricted for each floor. Players may only field 2 squads at the same time. Beneficial units may be inflicted with negative effects along with positive ones.

Leverages: Almost all of the high tech enemies limited to Sanctum were nerfed during the launch of this area. Certain units are granted buffs in each floor; those units are preferred to be used in each floor. Enemies' levels are locked at 120.
